About Temple Kehillat Chaim
Kehillat Chaim, which means Community of Life in Hebrew, is a Reform Jewish congregation that seeks to meet the spiritual, educational, cultural and social needs of our members. We are located in historic Roswell, Georgia with a growing membership that extends from Norcross, Johns Creek and Alpharetta to Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.
The Kehillah was established in 1982 by Rabbi Harvey J. Winokur, and fellow congregant, Alan Abrams. We are proud to be celebrating our 30th year anniversary as a congregation in 2012! Read more by clicking on the Our History link above.
Temple Kehillat Chaim has a full program of worship and activities including Preschool, Religious School (grades Pre-K through 10), B'nai Mitzvah, Road to Confirmation, Adult Education (including Adult Hebrew and Adult B'nai Mitzvah study), Adult Choir, Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Junior and Senior Youth Groups, Girl Scouts, Junior Choir, and many active committees.
Shabbat Services are held every Friday evening at 7:30 PM and on Saturday morning at 10:30 AM if there is a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Kabbalat Shabbat services (lay led service) are held on the third Friday evening of the month at 6:30 PM and are followed by a covered dish Shabbat dinner. Family services are held at 7:30 PM on the first Friday of every month.
We have a long tradition of community service and social action, both in the Jewish and secular communities. It is one of the primary tenets of Judaism, the mitzvah of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). We incorporate this ideal into the many community programs and events that we support around Atlanta.
Temple Kehillat Chaim is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), an organization that connects Reform Jewish communities in North America to create a dynamic network of congregants, lay leaders, clergy and professionals. The URJ's progressive, inclusive approach unites six thousand years of Jewish tradition and values with modern Jewish experience to strengthen Reform Judaism today and for future generations.
