Confirmation | Chai 5

​After becoming b'nai mitzvah, our 8th, 9th and 10th grade students may participate in Chai 5 as they prepare for Confirmation.  Chai 5 gives our students opportunities to learn and volunteer, and includes a trip to Washington, DC. These students often also participate in the synagogue through our youth groups and as madrichim (guides or teen helpers in Religious School) .

2026-2027 Curriculum

This year features an entirely new curriculum, developed by Rabbi Holtz and Lori Dreffin.

Our theme for the year is drawn from the ancient rabbinic teaching of Hillel: "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when?"

 

In the first half of the year, we turn inward — exploring personal and spiritual growth, character and values, and how practices like Shabbat can support self-care and reflection.

 

In the second half, we turn outward, examining what it means to be part of a community, a broader society, and the Jewish people.​
