Religious School
The Mitzner Family Religious School (MFRS) fosters the development and ongoing growth of Jewish identity for everyone in our programs: children, parents, and teachers. The cornerstones of MFRS are faith in God, love of Torah, and identification with the Jewish people and Israel through involvement in the synagogue and Jewish life.
Our Reform Jewish education at Temple Kehillat Chaim's MFRS aims to educate students to:
-
Affirm their Jewish identity and unite themselves with the Jewish people through their words and deeds.
-
Affirm the covenant between God and the Jewish people (the brit) by observing mitzvot (commandments).
-
Affirm their bond to Eretz Yisrael, the land of Israel.
-
Cherish and study Hebrew, the language of the Jewish people.
-
Value and practice prayer (t’filah).
-
Further the causes of justice, freedom, and peace by pursuing lives of righteousness (tzedek), justice (mishpat), and loving deeds (chesed).
-
Celebrate Shabbat, the festivals, and observe Jewish ceremonies that mark significant occasions in their lives.
-
Value and respect themselves, others, their family, and their community.
-
Express their kinship with the Jewish people (K'lal Yisrael) by actively seeking to improve the welfare of Jews worldwide.
-
Support and participate in the life of the synagogue.
