President's Blog: August 2026

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer filled with joy and relaxation.   As we transition from the fun of summer camp and family vacations into the back-to-school season and prepare for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it feels like such a beautiful time for renewal. I can't help but remember my own childhood and thinking it was a time for fresh starts. It is a special opportunity for us to reflect on our journeys and look forward to how we can grow together in the year ahead. I would love for you to consider being a part of TKC’s growth by sharing your talents with our community. Our committees will begin meeting in August, and we are particularly looking for volunteers to help our community. Your involvement is vital to the strength of our TKC family, and we have several areas where you can make an immediate impact: 

- Caring Committee: Chaired by Jen Tenenbaum and Tom Bryant.  Your assistance will help us revamp this essential group to support members during significant life events through calls, cards, meals, etc.  

- Fundraising: Join Becky Langmandel’s team to help us raise money to improve both our programming and the physical space at TKC.

  - Membership & Outreach: Assist Sabina Riddle in developing  ways to grow our community and retain our valued members.  

- Social Action: Amber Blanton and Lauren Green could use your idea and help to coordinate community service projects to assist our Temple or our greater community.  This could include a "Bagel Rescue".

Every bit of time you can give—even through "micro-volunteering" such as raising the Sukkah during Sunday School —is deeply appreciated.   Please reach out to one  of the chairs if you have some hidden talents or interest and just don’t know where would be the best fit.  We all would be happy to talk to you and find something. They are also available for you to learn more about how they plan to meet and put their plan into action.  You may find their email and  phone number in our new membership directory in EasyShul.   It truly takes a village, and I’m so grateful for your dedication to TKC.
