As you may know, my term as president concludes in less than a month, and this will be my final Kol Kehillah article. Serving this congregation for the past two years has been an honor, and I look forward to supporting our next president as she brings her ideas forward.
When I began my term, I focused on revitalizing our building to make it even more welcoming for members and guests. Unexpected circumstances required us to replace the roof, and with the guidance of the Finance Committee, we launched TKC’s first capital campaign in over 20 years. Together, we set a goal of raising $150,000 to replace the roof, repair and repave the parking lot, and refresh the social hall. I was fortunate to work with an exceptional executive committee, board of trustees, staff, and volunteers who guided and executed this work, and I am deeply grateful to our Kehillah for the generous contributions that made these plans possible.
Over the past two years—alongside our regular services—we’ve enjoyed a steady stream of programs, events, fundraisers, and fun. From the Purim spiel and Sisterhood game night to another wonderful Broadway Shabbat (now with a brand-new sound system!) and special Simchat Torah services, our calendar has been full and vibrant. Our oneg teams and Chavurot have thrived. Under the leadership of Rabbi Holtz, Kyra, and Seth Litman, the Religious Life and Practices Committee has been revitalized, and member participation in services is higher than I’ve ever seen. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our Board, staff, and congregation—and our community is stronger than ever.
One of the most significant milestones that speaks to the strength and continuity of our Kehillah is the extension of Rabbi Holtz’s contract for another decade—11 years, to be exact. I am humbled and proud of this mutual commitment, and I know the Rabbi and his family feel the same.
In closing, thank you to the Board, our staff, Rabbi Holtz, Kyra, and our congregation for your friendship, support, and partnership. It truly takes a village to bring ideas to life, and I am profoundly grateful for the collaboration throughout my presidency. I am confident that the energy, dedication, and enthusiasm within Temple Kehillat Chaim will carry forward well beyond April 19th. For those considering a leadership role, I hope you will take that step—the relationships and the experience are immensely rewarding.
I hope to see you soon at services.
