President's Blog: Capital Kick Off - Feb 2025

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year, spent with your loved ones.  As we kick off 2025, I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of another “kick-off” here at our very own TKC.  The Board of Trustees invites you to a Special Congregational Meeting to be held on Sunday, March 2nd at 11:00 am in the TKC Sanctuary and on Zoom. We will be kicking off a capital fundraising campaign for some much needed maintenance and improvements to our building, including a new roof, resurfacing of parking lots, painting, and a social hall refresh.

As I had mentioned last year, we have been working on a plan for social hall renovations to update our space and make it more aesthetically appealing to our membership and the greater community for events that may even generate a little bit of rental income. While not the end-game, extra income never hurt!  Through this process, weather-related events, and recommendations from Andy Abrams and others who know our building well, some pressing issues have surfaced.  Our roof is in need of repair and even replacement in areas.  There are also concerns with the safety of the parking lot.  As I’m sure you will agree, it is critical to keep our building and property in good, safe working condition for our purposes, as well as our tenants and their students with Seeds of Wonder Journey School.  It is our responsibility. As a result, we are preparing to launch a large fundraising effort.

More than 20 years ago, our Kehillah held a special meeting to raise funds for an overhaul of our social hall.  In 2013/2014, we were faced with an emergency roof situation and project and we were able to do what needed to be done through the generosity of our membership.  In both instances, this Kehillah rose to the occasion and were able to secure the funds required.  Under the leadership of our current Treasurer and Finance Committee, we are financially sound and have prioritized our needs accordingly.  However, there will still be a need for significant additional financial contributions.    Details will be outlined at the meeting and questions will be answered.

Please mark your calendars for March 2nd at 11:00 am for this important meeting of our Kehillah.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!
