As some of you may know, one of my areas of focus these past couple months has been the organization and, in some cases, the revival, of various auxiliary groups within our Kehillah. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of these important committees and the goals around each, in hopes that one or more of these groups align with your interests. In most cases, committees are led by a member of our Board of Trustees but we are looking to involve more congregants!
Programming & Membership – outreach to potential new members, new members, and current members; select and plan events appealing to these groups (i.e. speakers, social events, etc). If you have an idea for such an event, please contact Erica Goodwin.
Facilities – Building or Landscaping – join the existing team network to work on small projects for TKC and consult on maintenance issues. “Handyman” skills are a plus! Spread mulch, weed, consult/research on any special landscaping projects. Please contact the office if interested.
Security – consult on security-related projects and help submit for security grants when available. Give input on security-related policies as needed. Please contact Mark Kunzman if interested.
Fundraising – outreach efforts to raise money as needs, projects, or events arise. This could include helping secure sponsorships for a 5K Walk/Run (Save the Date for September 8th) or raising funds toward our Social Hall renovation project (more to come on that later). Please contact Sam Deich or myself.
Religious Life & Practices – work closely with clergy and provide input for decisions around things affecting religious life at TKC. Communicate and meet with Clergy when needed as things arise. Please contact Rabbi Holtz or myself.
Caring Core – outreach to members to offer condolences, send get-well cards. Complete and send out monthly yahrzeit reminders. Please contact Tom Bryant if you’d like to help.
Social Action – serve as a resource regarding social action and volunteer opportunities and events throughout the congregation. Assist groups and individuals within TKC to promote and encourage participation in social action and mitzvah projects, such as Drake House volunteers, Hunger Walk participants, and Zaban Shelter volunteers to provide meals for residents. The key issues for TKC’s social agenda are homelessness and hunger.
This is not an exhaustive list and Ad Hoc committees can also be created when necessary. Again, active participation is key and comes in all different forms. Whether it is signing up to volunteer at a specific event like our 5K Walk/Run on September 8th to benefit TKC, Kibbutz Be’eri, and the Drake House, or routinely helping to maintain our grounds, or making a monetary donation to a specific improvement project, we accept and appreciate ALL the help. I look forward to hearing which team YOU are on!
