Shabbat Services

We have a variety of worship services to meet the needs of our diverse congregation.  Some services work best for families with small children, others for empty-nesters.  You are sure to find a service that works best for you!

All festival services are scheduled on the (erev) evening of the holiday.  Please check our Calendar for specific times and dates.

Can’t Make It to Shabbat Evening Services?  Now you never have to miss Shabbat services at TKC!  Shabbat evening services that are held in the Sanctuary are also on Zoom.  See the weekly TKC email for the Zoom link.

Shabbat

We believe Temple Kehillat Chaim should be a spiritual refuge from the everyday fast-paced world in which we live. Shabbat allows us one day every week to be renewed spiritually; a day of rest separating the ordinary from the holy.

Shabbat services are held every Friday evening at 7:00 pm, unless otherwise noted. Saturday morning services in which students become b'nai mitzvah occur at 10:30 am and are led by the rabbi.

We have a devoted minyan of members who come together to worship and study on Shabbat morning every week. The Rabbi leads the service and Torah and Haftarah reading when there is no Bar/Bat Mitzvah. They meet from 9:45 am – 11:30 am on Zoom.  The study session takes place during the service.

Family Shabbat

Family Shabbat typically occurs on the first Friday of the month at 6:45 pm.  This Shabbat is open to everyone, but especially our families with children.  Generally preceded by a family dinner, families have multiple opportunities to visit with each other and make new friends.

Learning Shabbat Morning Services

5th through 7th grades participate in Shabbat morning services once a school year (6th grade participates twice). Students are assigned Hebrew and English readings which they read from the bima. The madrichim and teachers also participate in chanting the Torah or Haftarah as role models for the students.

Children's Shabbat

Children's Shabbat is generally held during the school year on the third Friday of each month at 6:00 pm.  Designed for our littlest members, ages 2 - 7, it is a fun-filled Shabbat geared specifically for them.

Youth Engagement Shabbat

Youth Engagement Shabbat is held three times a year during a Friday evening service. This service is written and facilitated by our Youth Group students with the supervision of the Youth Group Advisors.
